Bio

Simon Lessing (born February 12, 1971), is from the United Kingdom and has the unique ability to win any major race of any distance under any conditions and in any format.

During the 1990s he and his great rival, fellow Brit Spencer Smith, dominated Olympic distance triathlon. Lessing won the ITU Olympic Distance Triathlon World Championship in 1992, 1995, 1996 and 1998. In 1996, he also won the ITU Long Course Championship.

Lessing competed at the first Olympic triathlon at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He took ninth place with a total time of 1:49:24.32. In 2004 Simon won both Ironman Lake Placid and the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in a new course record. In 2005 he set a new half-Ironman course record at the famous Wildflower triathlon and in 2006 won a Silver medal at the 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, Florida.
